"Apical endocytosis : machineries, developmental regulation, vital imaging and disease...."

After a brief up-dating on key concepts on endocytosis, the lecture will dissect molecular machineries governing cell entry by macropinocytosis (Src, PI3K-I, PLC, PLD) and apical endocytic recycling (PI3K-III, dynamin, cytoskeleton). In vitro studies on transcriptional control will evidence an epithelial-specific factor acting in the proliferation --> differentiation switch (ZONAB). Finally, in vivo studies will illustrate the power of functional vital kidney imaging, and the challenge of understanding and treating a lysosomal membrane transporter defect in a cystinosis mouse model, with emphasis on kidney and thyroid gland.
