"Shaping of effector and memory T cell responses by TNF receptor family members"
The T cell response consists of several phases, priming, expansion, effector, contraction and memory, in which the T cells are confronted with different challenges and find themselves in different environments. Whereas T cell receptor stimulation is an absolute requirement for T cells to enter a responder pool, it is not the only input T cells require to mount effective primary and memory responses. Costimulatory receptors, as well as cytokine receptors provide important additional information to shape the T cell response. In this talk, we will focus on the cellular and molecular mechanisms by which TNF receptor family members shape the different phases of the CD8 T cell response. We will zoom on CD27 and its role in the coordination of CD4 help for the CD8 T cell response. We will show that expression of the CD27 ligand CD70 on dendritic cells is a very important element in CD8 T cell priming. We will highlight by cell biological studies that the intracellular transport of CD70 is uniquely regulated, most likely to serve its role in orchestration of an optimally helped CD8 T cell response. | |
